The Brand Estate - Heritage Impact Assessment

Montez Architecture were approached by The Brand Estate in Leicestershire to carry out a Heritage Impact assessment on the implementation of a glamping pod within the grounds of Swithland Wood and The Brand Estate a Grade II listed house designed by Alfred Waterhouse.

The report assessed the historic buildings upon the site and the impact which a glamping pod and the associated tragic would have upon the historical assets.

The site is incredibly important from a historical point of view with evidence of quarrying of the Swithland slate dating back to the roman times. An area of industrial might surrounding by the beauty of a SSSI Woodland proved challenging but a thorough report and understanding of the site and its assets allowed for the best placement of the the glamping pod, with minimal impact on archaeology, site lines and disruption to the SSSI.
